Moments in Time ~ Stories Through the Lens Photographs Capturing Spirit of Place by Alexa Walker
Welcome to my world. There’s not much I love to do more than travel the West, road trips being my favorite means of getting to the back of beyond. I’ve been carrying a camera around for decades, but now I aim to share my visions with those who enjoy much the same. Photography has become my passion, and I am so happy to share my images with you.
You’ll find here several collections of photographs, from Abstract Landscapes to Signs on the road, to Rusty Trucks. Please take a while to travel with me, and I hope you’ll find something you just can’t do without. Each of the images has a written narrative, found at the bottom of the page underneath the picture. These are also included with the matted and framed images, and are on the back of each card in the cardsets.
A lot of change has been going on, and in fact I’ve about decided that the meaning of life is about Change and Choice, and our reactions and responsibilities regarding both. Before I get too far afield, let me say that Change and Choice have been very much in evidence in my life and work, in that now I am in complete charge of all aspects of my photography, from planning a road trip, to taking the pictures, then doing all the work to process and print them in my own space, then mat and frame them. I thoroughly enjoy every part of it, and the really good news is that I can now print and mat in many more sizes, barring very large images. The further good news is that the final product is looking better than ever, with improved photographic paper and even more saturated colors and improved detail – that new camera helped! And as I learn more, there will be even more options to come.
Generally I don’t mat and frame my photographs in a classic museum style. I like to use mats that echo the colors of the earth, or reflect the feel of the image. I double mat the image, adding to the depth, using acid free mats and conservative mounting techniques. If you would like a framed photograph, get in touch with me and we’ll talk about the types of frames I generally use, and how to arrange for shipping. I am using wonderful mouldings on the framed pieces these days, and will be happy to send you samples of the different ones available by email, with pricing information. If you have any questions about the photographs or how to purchase, call me at (512) 264-1974, or email to alexa3hearts@austin.rr.com. I don’t offer online purchase right now, but I’d love to talk with you about what you’d like to have in your home, or give to that special person as a heartfelt gift.
Sending matted images is no problem at all. If you have some definite requirement for specific mat colors, just contact me. I will say I am of the school that says “good art doesn’t have to match your sofa.”
Basically I am offering matted images from sizes 8” x10”, to 9x12, 12x16, 14x18, 18x24, up to 20x28. Pricing runs from $25 to $150 for the double matted prints.
All of my available images are included here, but you can click on Card Sets for another way to purchase these photographs. The categories for the Card Sets are similar to the Image collections, but there are some differences in how they are arranged. All the photographs in each box are shown there. Six different cards are in each box for a cost of $20.
Thank you for your interest in my images, and I hope you enjoy your trip here, and the stories I have to tell. One of these days I will be setting up that blog, possibly in the form of a newsletter, since I always seem to have entirely too much to say. Come ride along with me, at least here in cyberspace, and we’ll see wonderful things.
And check out the NEW WORK. My most recent photographs will be displayed there for a while before rotating to the Images section.
Happy Trails!
