At the end of a fairly good hike, if you're lucky enough to know about it, there's a secret at the end of the journey. It's an entrancing little alcove, tucked in below and between canyon walls. It's almost tropical, and especially wonderful after the rains have dropped their blessings on a thirsty land. There are magic pools, and an occasional columbine to surprise you. After a big rain, there's a waterfall at the end. There are secrets in Big Bend, available for the seeking, if you look beyond the desert, and your expectations.
