WHO DROPPED THE POTS AT ERNST TINAJA?
Big Bend National Park, Texas

What can this be but hundreds of shards of Mexican pottery, shattered and scattered along the shelves of the canyon? Ernst doesn't make much sense. One minute you're looking at delicate layering, then you're in convoluted waves, next there are millions of tiny pebbles flowing down the rock, and then come these big pieces, jumbled and careening upon themselves, like some truck carrying a shipment of pots overturned in the canyon on a hard curve. No matter, it's all wonderful, and it's a treat for the imagination for sure.
