TREES OF LIFE
Near Ft. Davis, Texas
I shot these same trees back in the spring, when they were white with new blossoms. It was about the only touch of spring in West Texas, which was also suffering from the drought that was gripping so much of the state. But in the fall when I returned, the rains had come, and everything was green - except for the turning leaves which were beginning to glow with gold. I love this shot. It's full of mystery and shimmering life at the same time. I'm drawn into the scene, down between the rows of trees, into something very different from my own life. And sometimes we really need to be drawn in directions that take us away from the familiar, and into the mystery.
