Alexa Walker's 2011 Show ScheduleI look forward to seeing you at any of these events! ArtWalk / Art Guild of Rural Texas I've been accepted into a new art show (for me), and a nice one, in the rolling hills of south central Texas. Join me for a new experience in the charming, historical town of Fayetteville, with lots of character and likely a bunch of characters. Should be fun, and of course we all need more fun in our lives. Information at www.artguildtexas.org Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair One of the oldest and grandest of the Fine Arts and Crafts Fairs in the state, this show offers a broad spectrum of art and entertainment on the wonderful grounds in a really pretty part of Texas. Many events and activities are planned for Memorial Day weekend including plenty of food, music and dancing, also wine and beer tasting, and a children’s area. There’s information about the show at www.tacef.org. Bring the family and friends and plan some fun for Memorial Day. (And buying some art wouldn't be a bad idea, either.) Ruidoso Arts Festival Another great reason for a Road Trip! Escape the summer heat and travel to the mountains in south central New Mexico where you'll find invigorating weather and fantastic art. This has long been one of my favorite art shows, and I've won Best in Photography for the last two years. If all goes as planned, I'll have new images from a planned adventure in the Bisti Wilderness in early summer. Check out the show and other information at www.ruidosonow.com/art-festival. Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium I haven't done the Cowboy Symposium Show in Ruidoso, New Mexico in several years, but I'm excited to be back in the fold. It's definitely an art show of a different flavor, with all the emphasis on Cowboy and Western Art, Horses, and they also have one of the highest rated Chuckwagon Cookoffs in the country. And of course, lots of live Western Music, and Horse Whispering. What's not to have fun doing? Check out the website at www.cowboysymposium.org and come on out to the mountains in the crackling fall for a wonderful getaway. Alpine ARTWALK I'll be back for the third year at the historic Holland Hotel in Alpine for ArtWalk. This is a great weekend of fun and music and more art than you can shake two sticks at in the beautiful big sky country of West Texas - one of my favorite destinations. Many artists will display their work up and down Holland Avenue and at other venues throughout town. Perennial favorites Augie Meyers and Ray Wylie Hubbard are the featured musicians this year for the free concerts. Nothing but a good time to be had by all, so saddle up for a road trip and get yourself to Alpine for an experience. Check out details at www.artwalkalpine.com. The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar We have found our new permanent home at the Palmer Events Center, and we LOVE the location. You will too. Plenty of easy parking, and an atmosphere that feels like Dillo days of old. More information at www.armadillobazaar.com. I'll have new work from the year's adventures, plus the golden oldies that have been popular through the years. Our new venue allows us to grow with new artists every year, so don't miss a chance to celebrate the season and the best of what's left of the Armadillo spirit. |
